3-way valve
The centre of the auxiliary cooling system on the Lotus Carlton is the 3-way valve. After hard driving and/or high temperatures when the engine is switched off, this vacuum actuated valve opens and with the help of the auxiliary water pump, this re-routes coolant flow through the cylinder head helping to prevent potential heat related damage to the head gasket and engine castings.
